The Circle is a safe space for teenage mothers. Teens meet in a circle and are given the opportunity to share/ talk about issues that might be a source of their stress, trauma and other mental health challenges and issues that are holding them back thus hindering them from progressing.
This is safe, confidential and allows healing through sharing ones stories openly whilst self-Havening, trauma tapping and praying.
To give the teenage mothers an opportunity to easily speak out some of the most challenging issues in their lives that could be holding them back
To create a sense of togetherness and build trust among the group
To help the teens heal from their trauma and stress factors
To help the teenage mothers learn how to relieve themselves from stress, trauma and other mental health challenges by use of self-havening and trauma tapping techniques
To create a safe, loving and caring space for the teenage mothers
To build their confidence and boost their self-esteem

Confidentiality i.e. Whatever is shared in the circle remains in the circle and not shared anywhere else
There is unconditional respect for each other in the circle
Nobody is allowed to talk or interrupt someone speaking unless given permission or asked to speak by the person sharing
Complicated/ most traumatic cases shall be handled by the mentors privately or referred to a practitioner (Tony Burgess or Peaceful Heart Network)
Volunteers are not allowed to advise or offer solutions but can only ask proactive questions
Individuals shall not be forced to share if they are not ready to open up

Derick Ongeiwun started Move network International in Kampala, Uganda, to help stigmatized teenage mothers with stress and trauma. He teaches them self regulation techniques like Trauma Tapping, TTT, and Self-Havening. Hear his story and how he was inspired and motivated by his older sister, who got pregnant at 15.
